Standard and Advanced Trims (Gas)
A smart proximity key with six buttons, an ID47 Hitag 3 transponder chip, and a laser-cut KK12 emergency blade tucked inside the fob. You never have to pull the key out of your pocket to start the car. The system uses rolling-code encryption and on-board OBD-II programming, which means we handle everything in your driveway with professional scan tools.
Prestige and Sport Trims (Gas)
An eight-button smart key with the same ID47 Hitag 3 chip, but this version adds the NCF29A1X module and two extra buttons for Remote Smart Parking Assist. Those extra buttons let you move the car forward or backward from outside the vehicle. If you have a Prestige or Sport trim and someone programs a six-button key to it, the car will start fine but you lose the parking assist feature entirely.
Electrified GV70
A smart key with an ID47 Hitag 3 chip, but the electrified models use a different platform and may require dealer server authentication for programming. We are upfront about this: if you have the EV version, call us at (805) 790-8162 and we will verify what we can do before we roll out. No surprises, no wasted trips.
Which Key Does Your GV70 Use?
Standard and Advanced trim gas models. Includes lock, unlock, trunk, panic, remote start, and lights buttons. This is the most common GV70 key we see.
Prestige and Sport trim gas models with Remote Smart Parking Assist. Two extra buttons control forward and backward parking from outside the vehicle. Getting the right button count matters here.

Wrong Button Count Programming
Your GV70 starts with the new key but Remote Smart Parking Assist is gone. Happens when a six-button key gets programmed to an eight-button Prestige or Sport. RSPA needs the eight-button fob with the NCF29A1X module. We verify trim first.
All Keys Lost Requires Vehicle Present
You cannot just mail in your VIN and get a key shipped. The GV70 immobilizer needs the vehicle physically present for OBD-II programming, and we extract the PIN with our scan tools. Stranded in Camarillo or Simi Valley? We come to the vehicle.
Emergency Blade Cutting Issues
First check when the mechanical key will not turn: blade profile. The GV70 uses a KK12 laser-cut blade needing precision cutting. A blade cut off slides in but refuses to turn, locking you out with key in hand. We carry the right tools in Ventura County.
Can You Program a GV70 Key Yourself?
No DIY self-programming is available for the Genesis GV70. The ID47 transponder chip requires professional OBD-II tools and PIN code extraction. You need a locksmith with the right equipment, period.
