2022 Genesis Gv70
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: Can you wipe lost or stolen fobs so they can't start the car anymore?

Yes. When we do a security reset or all-keys-lost job on the GV70, the process clears all previously enrolled fobs from the vehicle's memory and registers only the new ones you authorize. Once that's done, the old fobs are gone from the system. They won't start the car, and they won't unlock the doors.

Q: Does my GV70 smart key have a hidden emergency blade inside it?

It does. There's a metal key blade folded inside the fob body, released by a small tab or button on the side. It fits the driver door cylinder so you can physically unlock the door if the fob battery dies and the door handle stops responding. If your blade is broken, worn, or missing, we can cut a replacement that matches your lock. That's a separate service from fob programming, and it doesn't require any electronics work.

Q: My GV70 fob battery is new but the car still shows a key warning. What's going on?

A few things can cause that. First, check how the CR2032 was seated. These fobs have a specific orientation for the battery, and if it's in slightly crooked or the contact has a minor bend from being pried open, you'll get an intermittent or dead signal even from a brand-new cell. Pop it back open, reseat the battery flat, and make sure the contacts are clean and making solid contact.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online using the factory FCC ID. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2022 GV70 does not have an onboard self-programming sequence for smart keys. Enrolling a new proximity fob requires a professional tool connected to the OBD port. The factory FCC ID on the fob just confirms it's the correct hardware. The vehicle still doesn't recognize it until it's been registered through the key system. Bring the fob to us and we'll pair it on site.

2022 Genesis Gv70 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Isla Vista, I got a call from a woman who runs a medical practice nearby. She told me upfront that she researches everyone before giving them access to anything she owns. Fair enough.

She had a 2022 Genesis GV70 and needed a spare smart key made. Before she even said hello on the phone, she'd already looked up my BSIS license number, LCO#6792, on the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services website. That number is publicly searchable. It means I passed DOJ and FBI background checks, carry active liability insurance, and run a registered locksmith operation.

She wanted to know my process before she agreed to anything. So I walked her through it: I'd pull the necessary vehicle data through the diagnostic port before touching the key system, register the new fob through the correct sequence, and test every function before I packed up. No guesswork, no workaround paths.

When I got there, she watched the whole job. The GV70 key system requires diagnostic access to enroll a new proximity fob, so I connected, pulled the data, and registered her new key. Cut the emergency blade to match. Tested the lock and unlock functions at every door, tested the start, walked through all seven buttons with her standing right there.

She paid a fraction of what the dealer had quoted her. That part almost felt like an afterthought to her. What she actually said was that she appreciated knowing exactly what was happening to her car the whole time.

Look up LCO#6792. Read the reviews. That's the whole pitch.

Genesis Gv70 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What is the cheapest way to handle all-keys-lost on my 2022 GV70?▼

Call a mobile locksmith before you call the dealer or a tow truck. All-keys-lost on the GV70 means the vehicle has no working fob at all, so the key system needs a full reset and new fob enrollment through the OBD port. A dealer will quote you for the job plus potentially towing if the car isn't at their lot.
