About Cadillac Keys
Cadillac keys range from basic 1990s transponders to advanced proximity fobs on the Escalade, XT5, and CT series. We program them all on site, no tow, no appointment, no dealer markup.
Every Cadillac Key Type, Programmed Right at Your Car

Cadillac has used four distinct key systems across its history, and we carry the tools for all of them.

Four Eras Of Cadillac Keys
Pre-1994 models used a standard blade with no chip. Starting in 1994, the DeVille and Seville introduced Philips ID46 transponder chips that require scanner programming to pair. By the mid-2000s, remote head keys with built-in fobs became the standard across most of the lineup. Then starting around 2007 on the Escalade and rolling out broadly by 2010, proximity smart keys with push-button start took over.

Your Key, Programmed On Site
Whether you need a replacement key for a 2005 CTS or a proximity fob for a 2023 XT5, we cut and program it on site in a single visit.
What the Cadillac Dealer Experience Is Really Like

Getting a replacement key from a Cadillac dealer is rarely a quick errand. Most service departments require a scheduled appointment, and availability for non-emergency key work is often two to three business days out.

The Day-Of Process
The day of the appointment, you typically spend time at the service desk for write-up, then wait for parts to be pulled and a technician to become available. For newer models that require GM Techline SPS online authentication, the process ties up a bay for an extended programming session. Total time from first phone call to having a working key in hand is commonly three to five days.

What You Pay At The Dealer
Pricing reflects the overhead: $330 to $550 for a standard smart key with programming, and $500 to $1,000 or more for all-keys-lost jobs, which often require towing since the car cannot move.

How We Cut the Wait
We do the same caliber of work on site at your location, usually in under an hour, with no appointment and no tow bill.
Cadillac Dealer vs. EZ Car Keyz
Cadillac dealers charge $330 to $550 for a basic smart key replacement, and up to $1,000 or more if you have no working key left. We program the same key to the same spec at your location, for a fraction of that cost.

Pro Tip

Every Cadillac push-to-start model since 2007 has a hidden mechanical key blade stored inside the fob itself. If your fob battery dies while you are out, press the small release tab on the back of the fob and slide the blade out. On most models the door key slot is concealed behind a removable cover on the driver side door handle. Pop the cover and use the blade to get in.

Finding the Backup Fob Spot
Once inside, each model has a specific location to place the dead fob so the car can still detect the chip and allow a normal push-button start. For most XT and CT models it is a shaped depression in the center console. Check your owner's manual for the exact spot before you ever need it.

How to Open

Battery Type
Most Cadillac proximity and remote head fobs from 2010 onward use a CR2032. Some older remote head fobs from the 2005 to 2009 era use a CR2025, which is the same diameter but slightly thinner. If you are not sure which you need, the battery type is printed on the old battery itself. Swapping the battery on a Cadillac fob does not require reprogramming. The fob holds its pairing code during a normal battery change.
Cadillac Owners on Our Service
"Called on New Year's Day at 5 PM. Key worked on ignition and passenger door but not the driver door. He looked at the key more closely and said it could be a worn out key versus a door cylinder. Got the spare key and it worked. Saved me more than $100 compared to changing the door cylinder. Prompt, professional and fair pricing."
Gordon Harada"EZ Car Keys is by far the best locksmith I've ever used. Marco is prompt, prices are reasonable, and he has the experience that leaves you comfortable. We've used him twice and will never use anyone else!"
Traci Thomas"Simply amazing. They honored their phone quote even though the job took much longer due to problems with my ignition cylinder. They disassembled, repaired, made two new keys and programmed key fobs - all for the original quote."
