About Chevrolet Keys

From vintage C/K trucks with VATS resistor keys to late-model Silverados with encrypted push-to-start fobs, Chevrolet spans more key generations than almost any brand on the road. We carry the parts and tools to handle all of them, right at your location.
Every Chevrolet Key Type, Cut and Programmed On the Spot

Chevrolet introduced electronic anti-theft technology earlier than most people realize. The original VATS system debuted on the 1986 Corvette with a resistor pellet in the blade, and by 1999 GM had rolled out transponder chip keys on the Silverado and Tahoe. The 2007 GMT900 trucks brought proximity smart keys to the mainstream, and today the full Chevy lineup runs encrypted push-to-start systems that require specialized programming tools.

Every Generation in Stock
We stock blades, remotes, and transponders for the complete range, from Texas 46 chip keys in the early 2000s to the modern flip fobs and HITAG Pro keys on 2014 and newer models. Whether you drive a 2003 Impala or a 2022 Tahoe, we come to you, cut the key on site, program the transponder, and get you back on the road without a dealer appointment or a tow.
Chevy Dealer vs. EZ Car Keyz

Chevrolet dealers charge $330 to $900 or more for a smart key replacement, plus a diagnostic fee on top of that. Wait times run 1 to 3 days for a standard appointment, and an all-keys-lost job can take even longer. We come to you, program on site, and do it for significantly less with no tow, no waiting room, and no surprises.

How Chevrolet Keys Have Changed Over the Years

What to Do When Your Chevrolet Fob Dies

Check which cup holder your model uses. Equinox, Traverse, and Blazer use the left (driver's side) cup holder. Silverado trucks, Tahoe, Suburban, and Colorado use the right cup holder closest to the driver. Malibu and some older push-start models have a key slot on or near the steering column.

Place the fob face up or face down in the correct cup holder. The vehicle's antennas are built into the console and will detect the fob's passive transponder even with a completely dead battery.

Press and hold the brake pedal firmly, then press the start button normally. The car should start even though the fob shows no charge.

If the vehicle still does not start, move the fob to a different position in the cup holder or try holding it directly against the start button itself. If your 12-volt battery is also dead, the fob method will not work and you will need a jump first.

Once you are moving, replace the fob battery as soon as possible. Most Chevrolet fobs use a CR2032. Press the side release to pop out the emergency blade, then pry the fob case open at the seam with a coin and swap the battery. No reprogramming is needed.
Chevrolet Owners on Our Service
"Called on New Year's Day at 5 PM. Key worked on ignition and passenger door but not the driver door. He looked at the key more closely and said it could be a worn out key versus a door cylinder. Got the spare key and it worked. Saved me more than $100 compared to changing the door cylinder. Prompt, professional and fair pricing."
Gordon Harada"EZ Car Keys is by far the best locksmith I've ever used. Marco is prompt, prices are reasonable, and he has the experience that leaves you comfortable. We've used him twice and will never use anyone else!"
Traci Thomas"Simply amazing. They honored their phone quote even though the job took much longer due to problems with my ignition cylinder. They disassembled, repaired, made two new keys and programmed key fobs - all for the original quote."
