Yes, for most Audi models from 2008 through 2022. All-keys-lost programming on Audi requires reading the BCM2 EEPROM or pulling the security PIN via OBD-II, which we do on-site using VVDI2 and Autel tools. This covers the Q5, Q7, A4 B8/B9, A5, A6, and A7 platforms without a tow to the dealer. Post-2020 models with full component protection may require dealer ODIS involvement depending on the specific ECU configuration, and we will tell you upfront before rolling out.

Audi Advanced Key is Audi's branded name for its hands-free proximity entry and push-button start system. It uses low-frequency sensors in the door handles and trunk to detect the fob within about five feet, allowing you to unlock the car and start it without removing the key from your pocket. Programming an Advanced Key replacement requires OBD-II tools that can sync with the KESSY proximity module, which is what we use on-site for A4, A5, A6, Q5, Q7, and Q8 models equipped with this system.

Audi dealer pricing runs roughly $350 to $650 for A4 and A5 models, $500 to $850 for the Q5, and $550 to $900 or more for the Q7 and Q8. This is a common scenario on B7 A4 models and other platforms from the mid-2000s. The transponder chip inside the fob handles the immobilizer and ignition start separately from the remote keyless entry buttons. When the remote signal fails but the chip still works, you typically have a battery issue, a desync after a battery swap, or a failed fob circuit. We diagnose on-site and can resync or replace the fob without touching the ignition programming.

First, replace the CR2032 battery in the fob, which does not require any reprogramming afterward. If the battery is good, try the emergency start procedure: hold the dead fob directly against the key symbol mark on the steering column or dashboard, or place it in the designated cupholder slot depending on your model year. If neither works, the issue may be the antenna or receiver module in the vehicle rather than the fob itself, and we can diagnose that on a service call.

Yes. Audi vehicles with passive keyless entry are susceptible to relay attacks, where thieves use signal amplifiers to trick the car into thinking the fob is nearby. This is different from the replay-code attacks that affect older Hondas and Acuras. Relay attacks do not require capturing and replaying a stored code, they simply extend the live proximity signal from your fob through walls. Storing your key fobs in a Faraday pouch when at home blocks the signal entirely and is the most effective low-cost countermeasure. Audi's 2020 and newer models with ultra-wideband technology are more resistant but not fully immune.

Yes. Audi models from 2015 onward use high-security laser-cut blades with the HU162T profile rather than standard edge-cut keys. These require a specialized laser cutting machine and cannot be duplicated at a hardware store. We stock laser-cut Audi blanks and carry the equipment to cut them on-site, so there is no parts delay on service calls for newer A4, A5, Q5, or Q7 models.
