The Sentry Key Immobilizer System is Dodge's transponder-based anti-theft system. It was introduced on select models in 1998 and became standard across the lineup through the early 2000s. If your Dodge was made after 1998, it almost certainly has a Sentry Key chip in the head of the key that must be recognized by the vehicle's SKIM module before the engine will start. A basic cut key without a programmed chip will not start the car. We program Sentry Key transponders on site using OBD tools without needing a dealer appointment.

Keyless Enter-N-Go is Dodge's branded name for their passive entry and push-button start system. It became standard or available on most models from 2011 onward, including the Charger, Challenger, Durango, Journey, and select Grand Caravan trims. Yes, we service these. We program the proximity key fob to your vehicle's RF Hub module on site using OBD-based tools. No dealer visit or tow is required for most 2011 through 2023 models.

In most cases, yes. For 2006 through 2023 Dodge models, all-keys-lost is handled on site using an Autel or Smart Pro programmer to pull a PIN from the SKIM or RF Hub module via the OBD port, then generate and program new keys. For 2015 and newer Challengers and Chargers that received Dodge's optional Key Programming Lockdown update in 2021 or later, the process requires replacing the RF Hub module in addition to the keys, which we will confirm and price out before starting the job.

Dodge released the Key Programming Lockdown feature in 2021 as a free voluntary security update for 2015 and newer Challengers and Chargers. Once applied, it blocks any key from being programmed to the vehicle while it is parked and unattended, which closes the main exploit thieves were using to steal these cars. The trade-off is that if all keys are lost after the update, the RF Hub module must be replaced along with the new keys. Not every eligible vehicle received the update. We can check your vehicle's module status when we arrive and let you know exactly what is involved.

A fresh CR2032 battery should restore function without any reprogramming. If the fob still does not work after a correct battery swap, the most likely culprits are corroded or broken contact discs inside the fob itself, which is a known issue on 2009 through 2015 Ram fobs and 2011 through 2014 Grand Caravan fobs. On Ram trucks specifically, the metal disc contacts wear out and stop making contact with the circuit board. In many cases the fob electronics are still good and the shell just needs to be swapped out with donor contacts. We can diagnose this on site.

Start with the fob battery. If a fresh CR2032 does not fix it, check fuses 46, 51, and 52 in the under-hood fuse box on the driver's side. Fuse 52 powers the RF Hub module mounted behind the rear seat, and when it blows the truck cannot detect any fob at all. This is the most commonly overlooked cause on 2013 through 2018 Rams before people assume the fob or the module has failed. We check the fuse box as part of our diagnosis before recommending any hardware replacement.

For most 2006 through 2020 Dodge models, yes, as long as the FCC ID on the key matches your vehicle. The IYZ-C01C platform covers a wide range of non-proximity fobs across Charger, Ram, Journey, and Grand Caravan. For proximity smart keys on newer models, compatibility is tighter and we recommend confirming before you buy.
