About Chrysler Keys

From the Sentry Key transponder systems in older 300 and Town and Country models to the smart proximity Fobik keys in the current Pacifica lineup, Chrysler key programming is something we handle on-site every day. No tow, no appointment wait, no dealer markup.
Chrysler Sentry Key and Fobik Programming, Done at Your Location

Chrysler has used its Sentry Key Immobilizer System since the mid-1990s, and every Chrysler built after 1995 requires a programmed key to start the engine.

From Transponder To Proximity
Older platforms like the Concorde, LHS, and early Town and Country used Philips 46 and Texas Instruments 4D transponder chips that we cut and program via OBD-II in minutes. The Chrysler 300 and later Town and Country models moved to the Fobik integrated smart key design, which combines the transponder and remote functions in a single fob and requires the SKREEM module to accept the new key. Current Pacifica models from 2017 onward use a proximity smart key with push-button start that we pair on-site using AutoProPad and compatible programmers.

All-Keys-Lost Without a Tow
For most Chrysler models from 2005 through the present, all-keys-lost situations are serviceable at your location without towing. We come to you, pull the correct blank, cut it, and program it before we leave.
Pro Tip

Chrysler's Fobik key design is one of the more intuitive to work with when the fob battery dies completely, but a lot of owners do not know the emergency start method works even without any battery at all. The Pacifica and 300 both use a passive RFID transponder chip inside the fob that does not need battery power to communicate with the start button reader. That means if the battery is totally dead, removed, or missing, you can still start the car by holding the top tip of the fob directly against the Start/Stop button and pressing it with your foot on the brake.

Getting In Is The Hard Part
The harder part is unlocking the door to get in, which requires releasing the hidden blade from inside the fob and using it in the small keyhole behind the door handle cover.

Starting With a Dead Fob
Once you are inside, the tip-to-button start method gets you going. Then call us to handle the battery swap or fob replacement so you are not doing this again.
Chrysler Dealer vs. EZ Car Keyz

Chrysler dealers typically charge $200 to $600 for key replacement depending on model and key type, with towing required for all-keys-lost situations on most post-2010 Pacifica and 300 platforms. We come to you, handle the SKREEM programming on-site, and skip the tow and the diagnostic fee.

Chrysler Key Fob Battery Guide

How to Open

Battery Type
CR2032 is standard across the Chrysler Pacifica, 300, Town and Country, and Voyager fob lines from 2008 through the current model year. Battery replacement does not require reprogramming on any Chrysler model. Plan on one to two years of life per cell under normal use. If the remote stops working after a battery swap but the car still starts, this is a common sync issue between the fob and the SKREEM module rather than a dead battery or failed fob, and we can resync it on-site without replacing anything.
What to Do When Your Chrysler Fob Dies

Use the hidden mechanical blade inside the fob to unlock the driver's door. Find the release slot at the bottom edge of the fob, press it with a coin or your thumbnail, and pull the blade out. On most Chrysler models there is a small cover over the door keyhole near the handle that you pop off with the blade tip before inserting.

Once inside, press the brake pedal firmly and hold it down.

Hold the top tip of the dead fob directly against the Start/Stop button. The button contains a passive RFID reader that can detect the transponder chip in the fob without battery power. Make sure the tip of the fob, not the side or back, is touching the button.

Press the Start/Stop button while maintaining contact between the fob and the button. The engine should start normally. On Durango and Grand Cherokee platforms, try placing the fob next to the shift lever on the center console instead of holding it to the start button. Each Chrysler platform uses slightly different backup detection zones.
Chrysler Owners on Our Service
"Called on New Year's Day at 5 PM. Key worked on ignition and passenger door but not the driver door. He looked at the key more closely and said it could be a worn out key versus a door cylinder. Got the spare key and it worked. Saved me more than $100 compared to changing the door cylinder. Prompt, professional and fair pricing."
Gordon Harada"EZ Car Keys is by far the best locksmith I've ever used. Marco is prompt, prices are reasonable, and he has the experience that leaves you comfortable. We've used him twice and will never use anyone else!"
Traci Thomas"Simply amazing. They honored their phone quote even though the job took much longer due to problems with my ignition cylinder. They disassembled, repaired, made two new keys and programmed key fobs - all for the original quote."
