How Pacifica Keys Changed Over the Years
Launch Year, 4-Button Remote Head Key
Moderate security with the Philips ID46 transponder chip talking to Chrysler's SKIM immobilizer. Your 2004 Pacifica uses a 4-button remote head key with a standard blade and CR2032 battery. Early 2004 models sometimes have a slightly different ignition lock cylinder, but the key system is the same, and we program it through OBD-II in your driveway.
Same Key System, Shared Platform
This is where Chrysler kept things consistent. Same Philips ID46 chip, same SKIM immobilizer, same 4-button remote head key with a CR2032 battery. The key system is shared with the Dodge Durango and Grand Caravan from this era, so parts availability is excellent. OBD-II programming, no surprises.
Five Buttons, Remote Start Ready
Chrysler added a fifth button for remote start compatibility on the 2007 and 2008 models. Still the Philips ID46 transponder chip and SKIM immobilizer under the hood. The programming method stays OBD-II, and the battery is still a CR2032. The extra button is the only real change you will notice in your hand.
Which Key Does Your Pacifica Use?
A traditional metal key with four remote buttons built into the head. You insert it into the ignition to start the car, and the buttons handle lock, unlock, panic, and trunk.
Same style as the earlier key but with a fifth button for remote start. The blade and transponder chip are identical, so the difference is really just that extra button on top.
How Much Does a Pacifica Key Cost?
Price includes key blank, blade cutting, transponder programming to your SKIM module, and remote pairing, all done on-site.
EZ Car Keyz vs. the Dealer
We carry the same professional programming platforms the dealer uses. The difference is we bring them to your driveway for about half the price.
Common Pacifica Key Problems
Ignition Lock Cylinder Wear
The internal wafers in your ignition cylinder wear down over time, especially on high-mileage Pacificas. We check the cylinder first before assuming a key problem. If worn, we replace on-site with OEM-spec parts and cut your new key to match.
Transponder Chip Failure
We verify whether your Philips ID46 chip is still communicating with the SKIM module. If the chip lost programming or failed, your Pacifica cranks but will not start. We reprogram through OBD-II on the spot; if the chip is dead, we cut and program a fresh key.
Key Fob Battery Drain
Remote buttons stop working but the car still starts. Classic sign of a dead CR2032 in your remote head key. The remote uses a radio signal for locks and panic; the transponder is passive and needs no battery. Pop the key, swap the CR2032, back in business.
Can You Program a Pacifica Key Yourself?
If you already have two working keys, you can program the remote buttons on a new key yourself using Chrysler's two-key procedure. This only pairs the lock, unlock, and panic buttons. It does not program the transponder chip, so the new key will not start the car without professional OBD-II programming.
With two already-programmed keys in hand, you can add a new transponder key using Chrysler's two-key relearn procedure. You cycle the existing keys in the ignition and wait for the immobilizer light to confirm. If you have lost all your keys, this will not work, and you will need us to perform an all-keys-lost procedure with PIN extraction.

Did You Know?
Most people do not know this: the 2004-2008 Pacifica was Chrysler's first attempt at a crossover minivan. They took the CS platform shared with the Town and Country, gave it SUV styling and a more upscale interior, and tried to split the difference between family hauler and luxury crossover. It was a bold experiment that only lasted one generation before Chrysler brought the Pacifica name back in 2017 as a full minivan.
