2004 Chrysler Pacifica Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy near the Oxnard Performing Arts Center flagged me down on a Saturday. Not a scheduled call. He was loading gear into his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica after some event setup work and his only key snapped right at the head where the plastic meets the blade. The transponder chip was still inside the broken housing, but the blade was bent and the remote buttons were hanging by a ribbon cable.
He had already called a Chrysler dealer. They told him to tow it in, wait for a key order, and book a programming appointment. Could be a week, maybe longer.
I had the 04589053AC blank in stock. Cut the blade on my mobile machine using the code pulled from the door lock. Then I connected through the OBD-II port, pulled the 4-digit SKIM PIN from the module, and registered the new ID46 transponder chip. The whole sequence on these early Pacificas is pretty quick once the PIN is in hand because there is no timed security countdown like some later Chrysler platforms added.
Tested all four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Turned the ignition, engine fired and stayed running. No crank-and-die, no SKIM light on the cluster.
He stood there holding the broken key in one hand and the new one in the other, just kind of weighing them like he was making sure it was real. Packed up his tables and drove home. The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes.
