About Infiniti Keys

Infiniti's Intelligent Key system runs across the entire QX and Q lineup. Whether your key fob stopped being detected or you have no working key at all, we program replacements on site without a dealer visit.
Every Infiniti Intelligent Key Generation, Programmed at Your Location

Infiniti has used four key system generations since launching in 1989. Early models through 1996 used standard mechanical keys with no chip. Starting in 1997, the Q45 became one of the first vehicles in the brand's lineup to use a transponder immobilizer, and that technology spread across all models through the early 2000s. The second generation added remote head key fobs with integrated buttons, and the third brought Infiniti's Intelligent Key system with push-button start, rolling out model-by-model from 2004 forward.

On-Site for Every Generation
Today the entire QX and Q lineup runs advanced proximity fobs that require professional OBD-II programming to pair. We carry the tools for every generation, and we come to you.
What Makes Infiniti Keys Different

Infiniti keys sit in a category most drivers do not expect: they look like standard luxury key fobs, but the programming behind them is Nissan's NATS immobilizer system, which operates differently from the GM, Ford, and Toyota platforms most locksmiths see every day. Infiniti uses its own branded name, Intelligent Key, for the proximity system, but under the hood it runs Nissan's NATS immobilizer with PIN-code-based security that requires either Nissan Consult III software or a compatible aftermarket tool to access.

Why Online Fobs Often Fail
What this means practically is that buying a replacement fob online and expecting a shop to simply pair it the way they might a Honda or Toyota fob often does not work.

Why We Carry NATS-Specific Tools
The NATS system needs the PIN for all-keys-lost jobs, and the fob has to be programmed through a specific sequence tied to the vehicle's VIN. We are set up for exactly this, and we bring the right tools to your car.
Infiniti Dealer vs. EZ Car Keyz
Infiniti dealers charge $330 to $1,000 for a smart key replacement, plus a $100 to $200 diagnostic fee before they even start, and they typically require your car to be towed in for all-keys-lost service. We do the same work on site at your car.

What the Infiniti Dealer Experience Is Really Like

Getting a replacement Infiniti key from the dealer starts with a diagnostic appointment, which typically runs $100 to $200 before any key work begins. The service advisor verifies VIN, immobilizer status, and access codes during this step, and the fee is often only waived if you proceed with the full key service on the same visit.

The Tow and the Wait
For all-keys-lost situations, most Infiniti dealers require the vehicle to be towed to their facility because they need physical access to the car for ECU programming. Scheduling for non-emergency key work runs one to three business days in Southern California, and all-keys-lost jobs that require parts ordering can stretch to one to two weeks. Total out-of-pocket for a smart key with programming lands between $330 and $1,000, with towing added on top if you have no working key.

How We Handle It Differently
We do the same caliber of work on site, typically in under an hour, with no appointment, no diagnostic fee, and no tow.
Pro Tip

Every Infiniti push-to-start model has a backup start method for when the fob battery dies. On most QX and Q models, holding the dead fob directly against the Start/Stop button allows the car to read the chip at close range, even with zero battery power. You will usually hear a chime confirming detection, then pressing the brake and the start button works normally.

G37 And Older FX Use A Fob Port
On the G37 and some older FX models, there is a dedicated fob port on the lower left dash panel near the steering column. Slide the fob in with the key ring facing out and the buttons facing up, then start as usual. Find your specific backup location in the owner's manual before you ever need it.
Infiniti Owners on Our Service
"Called on New Year's Day at 5 PM. Key worked on ignition and passenger door but not the driver door. He looked at the key more closely and said it could be a worn out key versus a door cylinder. Got the spare key and it worked. Saved me more than $100 compared to changing the door cylinder. Prompt, professional and fair pricing."
Gordon Harada"EZ Car Keys is by far the best locksmith I've ever used. Marco is prompt, prices are reasonable, and he has the experience that leaves you comfortable. We've used him twice and will never use anyone else!"
Traci Thomas"Simply amazing. They honored their phone quote even though the job took much longer due to problems with my ignition cylinder. They disassembled, repaired, made two new keys and programmed key fobs - all for the original quote."
