QX55 Key Technology by Generation
First Generation (DB13)
Server-authenticated programming makes this one a dealer-level job, and we have the tools and tokens to handle it. Your QX55 uses a 5-button Intelligent Key (FCC ID: KR5TXN1) with the INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer System, also known as NATS. It is a proximity smart key with push-button start, a hidden high-security emergency blade, and a CR2032 battery inside the fob.
Which Key Does Your QX55 Use?
This is the only key type for your QX55. It is a proximity fob that unlocks when you touch the door handle and starts the engine with the push button. There is a small metal emergency key hidden inside for when the battery dies.
What Your QX55 Key Costs
Price includes the key blank, cutting the high-security blade, programming with server authentication, and testing all functions on-site.
EZ Car Keyz vs. the Dealer
We test your existing key system before we charge you anything. The dealer books you in, tows your car, and hands you a bill.
Common QX55 Key Problems
Transponder Programming Lockout
If someone tried programming an aftermarket key without Nissan/Infiniti server auth, the system locks out and refuses any key. We see this in Simi Valley and Oxnard, and we carry the right tools and server tokens to reset.
Intelligent Key Battery Failure
First check is the CR2032 inside your fob. Frequent remote start use drains it faster; proximity unlock gets flaky before the fob dies. Battery swap is two minutes and we confirm communication before leaving.
Door Handle Sensor Malfunction
Dirt and moisture build up in capacitive sensors on door handles during Ventura County rainy stretches. Grab the handle, nothing, owners blame the key. Usually the sensor. Cleaning often fixes it; if sensor failed, dealer must replace hardware.
Remote Start Incompatibility
Your QX55's push-button remote start works through the factory Intelligent Key, and it is tightly linked to the NATS immobilizer. Third-party remote start systems on the 2023 and 2024 models can conflict with this, causing a no-start condition though the engine cranks. If someone installed an aftermarket remote starter and now car will not start, a dealer reflash of the immobilizer is the fix. We can diagnose it on-site and tell you what is going on before you spend a dime.
Can You Program a QX55 Key Yourself?
No DIY self-programming exists for the QX55. The Intelligent Key requires server authentication through professional tools. You need a BSIS-licensed locksmith or the dealer for this one.

Did You Know?
Your QX55's Intelligent Key does more than lock and unlock. Each fob stores a unique driver profile that remembers your seat position, mirror angles, and climate control preferences. Hand your spouse a different fob and the car automatically adjusts to their settings when they get in. Pretty clever for a key that looks like every other black plastic rectangle.
