The small electric motor inside door that physically moves the lock mechanism is the culprit here. Humidity and age eat away at these actuators, on 2001-2003 models. You will notice the power locks working intermittently, or one door refusing to respond to the remote. This is a mechanical repair, not a key issue, but we can confirm whether the problem is remote or the actuator before you spend money on the wrong fix.

Immobilizer Antenna Ring Corrosion
