Smart Key Battery Drain
Fob buttons work fine, then range drops and you have to stand right next to the car. The Ioniq 6 smart key broadcasts a proximity signal constantly, eating the CR2450 fast. A fresh battery usually fixes it. If not, the fob may need reprogramming.
Transponder Programming Lockout
The HITAG-AES (4A) chip in your Ioniq 6 requires Hyundai-specific scan tool access with PIN authentication. Generic OBD tools fail, and shops without the right subscription waste your time. We carry Autel IM608 with active Hyundai authorization.
Key Fob Signal Interference
First check: where you are parking. Your Ioniq 6 fob runs at 433 MHz, and spots in Oxnard and Camarillo near cell towers cause intermittent unlock and remote start failures. Try a different spot. If it follows you, call (805) 790-8162.
Can You Program an Ioniq 6 Key Yourself?
The 2023 Ioniq 6 does not support any onboard self-programming. The HITAG-AES transponder requires a professional scan tool with Hyundai server authentication. There is no DIY workaround for this one.
