2014 Toyota Highlander Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A renter over in the Ojai Post Office Tower area called after getting a quote from the dealer for a replacement smart key on his 2014 Highlander. He had one working fob and wanted a spare before the original disappeared or broke. He figured the dealer number was just what Toyota keys cost.
I parked at his building and used my TOY43 Lishi to decode the door lock. The Lishi reads the wafer positions inside so I can cut a matching emergency blade without needing the original. His fob was the HYQ14FBA, 4-button proximity, AG board 2110, the same one Toyota used from 2014 all the way through the third-gen Highlander run.
Cut the emergency blade, programmed the new fob through the OBD port, and tested every function: lock, unlock, panic, hatch release, push-button start, and the touch sensors on both front door handles. About 35 minutes, start to finish, right next to his car.
He would have had to get the Highlander to the dealer somehow, then sit in a waiting room or leave it overnight, which is a common complaint on the Highlander forums. Instead he watched from his front step and drove off five minutes after I finished. Same fob, same chip, same security handshake. A fraction of what the dealer wanted.
