The Giulia upgraded to rolling code transponders that change the authentication value with each use. This made replay attacks impossible and significantly improved security over fixed-code predecessors.
Early Transponder Era
Alfa Romeo introduced basic transponder immobilizer technology to the Giulia line, embedding a chip in the key head that must communicate with the vehicle to allow starting. Fixed-code systems that were groundbreaking at the time.
Enhanced Range Fob
The Giulia received an updated fob with improved radio range, allowing lock and unlock from further distances. The new design also improved water resistance of the fob electronics.
Legacy Platform
This legacy Giulia platform used a key system that Alfa Romeo has since discontinued. Parts are still available and we carry compatible blanks, but the programming approach is unique to this generation.
Which Key Does Your Giulia Have?
OEM Alfa Romeo Giulia keys cost more but are guaranteed compatible. Aftermarket blanks are 40 to 60 percent cheaper and in most cases function identically once programmed. We primarily use aftermarket for cost savings.
