Envista Key Technology by Generation
1st Generation (BPGX)
A 5-button smart proximity key with a Philips ID 46 GM EXT transponder chip and push-button start across every trim. Your Envista uses GM's server-authenticated immobilizer, which means the key has to be programmed through a secure online connection to GM's servers. No shortcuts, no workarounds. The FCC ID is HYQ4ES, and the fob runs on a CR2032 battery.
Which Key Does Your Envista Use?
This is a proximity smart key. You keep it in your pocket, walk up to the door, and the car unlocks. Push the button to start. There is a hidden emergency blade inside the fob, but you will almost never use it.

Common Envista Key Problems
Key Fob Battery Drain
Fob works at 8 AM, ignored by afternoon. The 2024 Envista is hard on CR2032s because remote start and telematics run in the background. Swap the battery first; two-minute, $3 fix. Drain returns? We check the fob's signal output.
Keyless Entry Signal Interference
Strong RF interference is the culprit, common near the Oxnard auto mall or Camarillo cell towers. Proximity unlock needs a clean signal. Try the lock or unlock button manually. If buttons work, interference is your answer, not a broken key.
Transponder Recognition Delay
First we check whether the fob battery was recently replaced. The 2024-2025 Envista hesitates during push-button start after a swap because the ID 46 chip needs a moment to re-sync. Hold the fob against the start button. Persists? We reprogram on-site in Simi Valley.
Can You Program an Envista Key Yourself?
You can program the remote functions yourself if you have two working keys, using GM's door cylinder cylinder procedure or the 10-minute relearn method. But this only programs lock, unlock, and remote start buttons. The transponder chip that actually lets the car start requires server-authenticated programming through professional tools. For the immobilizer side, you need a locksmith or dealer.
