Ariya Key Technology by Generation
1st Generation (FE0 Chassis)
A 4-button smart key with FCC ID KR5TXPZ1, built on Nissan's CMF-EV platform. Your Ariya uses the NATS immobilizer system with server authentication, which means programming requires a secure connection to Nissan's servers. There is a hidden mechanical emergency blade inside the fob and a dedicated charge port release button, which is unique to the EV lineup.
Which Key Does Your Ariya Use?
This is a proximity smart key with lock, unlock, hatch/charge port release, and panic buttons. You never need to take it out of your pocket for daily driving. There is a small mechanical key hidden inside for emergencies.

Common Ariya Key Problems
Intelligent Key Battery Failure
Fob stops unlocking from a distance, or you have to stand next to the car. Almost always a dying CR2032. We swap it in about two minutes and verify proximity is back to normal.
False Locking/Unlocking Alerts
Weak Intelligent Key fob signal is usually the cause. Low battery or RF interference can make your Ariya chime, lock, or unlock on its own. We test fob signal strength first and replace the battery if needed before anything else.
Programming Requires Nissan Server
We check this before rolling out. The Ariya's NATS immobilizer needs Nissan server authentication for new key programming. Aftermarket tools that claim to handle it often fail at auth. We use Nissan-compatible equipment and verify server access first.
Can You Program an Ariya Key Yourself?
No self-programming procedure exists for the Ariya. The NATS immobilizer with server authentication means every new key must be registered through professional diagnostic tools connected to Nissan's servers. This is not a DIY job.

Did You Know?
Back in 2022, when Nissan designed the Ariya's smart key, they did something unusual for the segment. The 4-button fob (FCC ID KR5TXPZ1) includes a dedicated hatch and charge port release button, a feature specific to EV models in the Nissan lineup. Most competing EVs at launch required you to use the touchscreen or a separate app to pop the charge port.
