1st Generation Launch
You press the start button like any modern luxury SUV, but underneath that convenience is Ford's SecuriLock PATS immobilizer running a Texas 4D (ID4D67) transponder chip. That chip has to match your vehicle's computer before the engine turns over. There is also a hidden key programming slot in the overhead console, which is one of the things that makes on-site programming possible for us.
1st Generation Facelift
Lincoln upgraded to SYNC 4 and added Phone As A Key, but the security hardware stayed the same. Still a Texas 4D (ID4D67) chip, still SecuriLock PATS, still the same FCC ID. The smart key fob is identical in function, so programming is the same process we have been doing since 2020.
Mid-Cycle Refresh
The 2024 got Lincoln Premium Audio and enhanced connectivity features, but the key system remains consistent with earlier years. Same Texas 4D (ID4D67) transponder, same SecuriLock PATS immobilizer, same 3-button smart key fob. If you have a 2024, the process and pricing are the same as every other Corsair year.
Which Key Does Your Corsair Use?
A proximity smart key with push-button start. It stays in your pocket or bag, and the car detects it when you walk up. There is a hidden emergency key blade inside for manual door entry.
Same smart key design as the 2020-2021, with the same 3-button layout and high-security blade. The SYNC 4 upgrade did not change the fob itself.
Identical smart key fob to earlier Corsair years. Three buttons, high-security emergency blade, and CR2032 battery. No changes to the physical key for the refresh.

Key Fob Battery Drain
Fob dies faster than expected, sometimes in months. Intelligent Access and Lincoln Way app connectivity keep the fob communicating constantly, eating the CR2032. We replace on the spot and check whether the fob itself is drawing more power than it should.
PATS Immobilizer Sync Failure
Owners blame the key. Real issue is usually a voltage drop, often after a dead battery or jump, that knocks SecuriLock PATS out of sync with the smart key transponder. We reprogram through the OBD port and overhead console slot in about 20 minutes.
Proximity Sensor False Triggers
Intelligent Access on 2022-2024 Corsairs sometimes unlocks or starts the vehicle while the fob is in your pocket. Sensitivity issue with the proximity sensors, not a key defect. We check signal strength and adjust system settings to reduce false triggers.
Key Blade Wear
Before recommending a new blade, we check the existing one under magnification. High-security Corsair blades have tight tolerances and wear faster than standard keys. Worn? We cut a fresh blade from original code, not a copy of a copy, so it works like new.
Can You Program a Corsair Key Yourself?
No self-programming option exists for the 2020-2021 Corsair. The SecuriLock PATS system requires professional diagnostic equipment and PIN retrieval through NASTF to program a new smart key.
Same story here. The 2022-2023 Corsair cannot be self-programmed. You need a licensed locksmith or dealer with Ford-compatible programming tools to add or replace a smart key.
The 2024 Corsair also requires professional programming. No generation of the Corsair supports any kind of DIY key programming procedure.
