ID 4D60 Transponder Key
On-board programming makes this one straightforward. Your 2000 or 2001 Galant uses a MIT9-P transponder key with an ID 4D60 chip and the HYQ12ABA remote. We plug into the data port under your dash, program the chip, and pair the remote separately. Simple, quick, no drama.
MIT13-PT Remote Head Key
On-board programming keeps things accessible here too. Mitsubishi moved to the MIT13-PT key with a built-in remote, using a CR2025 battery and a standard MIT6 blade. The transponder still programs through the diagnostic port, and the remote pairs after. If you have one of these, you will notice the key head is thicker because the remote buttons are integrated.
OUCG8D-525M-A Remote Head Key
On-board programming with a new FCC ID. Your 2004 or 2005 Galant uses the MIT16A-PT key with the OUCG8D-525M-A remote, still running a CR2025 battery. The blade is the same MIT6 profile, but the transponder chip changed. We use an Autel scanner or MVP Pro to handle the programming on-site.
OUCG8D-620M-A Remote Head Key
On-board programming, slightly updated remote. The 2006 and 2007 models switched to the OUCG8D-620M-A remote and a CR2032 battery. Keyless entry is built into the transponder key itself. One important detail: programming a new key erases all existing keys from memory, so bring every key you have when we show up.

Key Programming Erases All Keys
Owners assume a new key just gets added without affecting old ones. Not how it works. Programming wipes every existing key from immobilizer memory. Every key needs to be present and reprogrammed in the same session. Bring them all.
Transponder Chip Failure
First check: is the transponder chip still communicating with the immobilizer? We hold a diagnostic reader to your key first. Dead chip means engine cranks but refuses to start. A new key, cut and programmed on the spot, solves it.
Remote No Self-Programming
The HYQ12ABA, OUCG8D-525M-A, and OUCG8D-620M-A remotes all require professional equipment to pair. No button-press sequence or ignition trick exists. We use OBD-II tools. Anyone citing a YouTube trick is thinking of a different car.
Fault Codes Block Programming
Car will not accept a new key, owners assume the key is bad. Nine times out of ten, real culprit is stored fault codes in the immobilizer ECU. Old errors, dead-battery events, or failed programming attempts all block registration. We clear first, then program.
Can You Program a Galant Key Yourself?
No self-programming procedure exists for the 2000-2003 Galant. The transponder chip requires a professional diagnostic tool connected to the OBD-II port under the dash.
The 2004-2007 Galant also has no DIY programming option. All existing keys get erased during the process, and a security password is required. This one needs a locksmith or dealer, period.
