The 2020-2022 Voyager carried over the same smart key setup Chrysler put in the Pacifica. The fob covers seven functions: lock, unlock, remote start, both power sliding doors, and the liftgate. Programming goes through the factory immobilizer with server authentication, so there is no shortcut, no ignition-cycle trick, and no DIY path. Common Voyager Key Problems
Key Fob Battery Drain
Your Voyager fob runs on a CR2032 coin cell, and it works harder than a standard fob because it handles seven buttons including remote start and both power sliding doors. San Diego fleet vehicles that run daily cycles chew through batteries faster than you might expect. If your range has been shrinking, swap the battery before assuming the fob or the van has a bigger problem. It is the cheapest fix to rule out first.
Smart Key Recognition Failure
You hit the start button and the dash reads "key not detected." Push-to-start depends on a low-frequency signal between the fob and the factory immobilizer, and when that signal weakens or loses sync the van simply refuses to start. A dying battery causes it most of the time. Sometimes the immobilizer sync has drifted and needs to be re-established with programming equipment. We test both before recommending any parts or service.
Remote Start Incompatibility
If remote start stopped working after an aftermarket system was installed, the fob itself is usually not the culprit. The 2020-2022 Voyager's factory remote start can conflict with aftermarket systems that were not set up with the right bypass hardware. The van's receiver ends up confused by competing signals. We can sort out whether the fob needs attention or whether the issue is a wiring conflict, so you are not spending money replacing the wrong thing.
Can You Program a Voyager Key Yourself?
No self-programming option exists for the 2020-2022 Voyager. The factory immobilizer uses server authentication, and no ignition-cycle procedure or two-key trick will get around it on this generation. Professional programming equipment is required, full stop.
