Venue Key Security, Generation by Generation
1st Generation (CX-1a)
Your first gen Venue uses a 4-button smart key with FCC ID SY5IGFGE04 and a CR2032 battery. Higher trims like the Limited got proximity entry and remote start, while base SE models used a simpler remote head key. Programming requires OBD-II access through the Hyundai immobilizer system.
1st Generation Facelift (CX-1b)
Your 2022 or 2023 Venue carries the same 4-button smart key (SY5IGFGE04), but Hyundai expanded keyless entry to the SEL trim. The immobilizer security stayed advanced, and server authentication may be needed during programming. We test OBD-II first and let you know exactly what is required before we start.
1st Generation Facelift 2 (CX-1c)
Your 2024 Venue keeps the same smart key platform with the SY5IGFGE04 FCC ID and CR2032 battery. Proximity key is available on SEL and Limited trims with confirmed part number 95440-K2400. OBD-II programming with the Hyundai immobilizer is still the method, and we handle it right in your driveway.
What Key Does Your Venue Actually Use?
This is the proximity smart key with lock, unlock, remote start, and panic buttons. Higher trims get keyless entry; base SE trims may use a standard remote head key instead.
Same smart key design as the earlier Venue, now standard on more trims including the SEL. Push-button start and proximity entry come with the smart key package.
The 2024 continues with the same 4-button smart key for SEL and Limited trims. The emergency blade inside the fob lets you unlock the door manually if the battery dies.

Why Drivers Pick Us Over the Dealer
The Hyundai dealer wants a tow, an appointment, and a parts wait. We pull up to your location and finish it in your driveway. That is the whole pitch.
Problems We See on the Hyundai Venue
Smart Key Battery Drain
We start by inspecting fob battery age and CR2032 voltage. Venue smart keys with proximity entry and remote start draw more power. Replacing more than once a year suggests a deeper fob circuit issue; we diagnose at the vehicle.
Transponder Programming Failures
Plenty of shops blame the key blank when programming fails on a 2022+ Venue. Real problem is outdated software on the programming tool. The Hyundai immobilizer needs server authentication. We keep our Autel IM608 and VVDI current.
Proximity Sensor Malfunction
Walk up to the Venue in Lakeside or Spring Valley, grab the handle, nothing. Key in pocket, battery fresh, door won't open. On 2020-2023 SEL and Limited trims, moisture in the door-handle proximity sensors disables them quietly. Marco tests both sides.
Can You Program a Venue Key on Your Own?
No self-programming option exists for the 2020-2021 Venue. The Hyundai immobilizer requires professional OBD-II tools to pair a new smart key to your car.
Same story here. The 2022-2023 Venue does not support any DIY key programming. Server authentication may also be needed, which means specialized equipment only.
The 2024 Venue requires professional OBD-II programming with possible server authentication. There is no shortcut or workaround for this one.

Worth Knowing
You would not guess it, but the 2020-2024 Hyundai Venue comes with a 4-button smart key that includes remote start, a feature that is genuinely uncommon in the subcompact SUV class. Most competitors at this price point make you pay extra for remote start or skip it entirely. Hyundai quietly made the Venue one of the most feature-packed entry-level SUVs on the market.
