First Generation (NA1)
Straightforward OBD-II registration on this one. The NA1 Atlas carries a 3-button laser-cut flip key with a Megamos AES transponder paired to the MQB-platform immobilizer. Marco plugs into the diagnostic port, runs the key registration through the immobilizer module, and you are back on I-15 inside half an hour. No flatbed, no service drive, no waiting room.
Proximity Era (MQB Refresh)
The 2022-2026 Atlas carries a 5-button proximity fob with Comfort Access and push-button start, FCC KR5FS14-US, VW part 3G0 959 752T. The transponder is still Megamos AES, so the security family is familiar, but the fob does more. Marco registers it through the OBD-II port wherever you are parked in San Diego County, from a La Jolla driveway to an El Cajon lot, and tests it live before packing up.

A folding flip key. The laser-cut blade hides inside the fob body and snaps out when you press the side release. Three buttons on top for lock, unlock, and rear hatch, plus a concealed mechanical key blade tucked inside the housing for emergency door access.
The 2022-2026 proximity fob, VW part 3G0 959 752T, FCC KR5FS14-US. Five buttons on top, Comfort Access so the doors wake when you touch the handle, and push-button start in place of a turn key. A laser-cut emergency blade snaps out of the housing for dead-battery door access, and a Megamos AES transponder runs the immobilizer pairing.
