First Generation Refresh (DE)

2016-2019

Acura stepped things up here with the refreshed ILX, standardizing the 2.4L engine and 8-speed DCT. The key system stayed consistent though: ID47 (PCF7961X) chip, 3-button smart fob, CR2032 battery, laser-cut blade. On-board programming still works, which keeps your cost down and the job fast.

Second Generation (C)

2020-2022

Always-on proximity sensors in your 2013-2019 ILX eat CR2032s faster than expected, sometimes in six months. Normal for the model. Swap a fresh OEM CR2032. If you replace more than twice a year, bring it by and we check the housing.

For the 2013-2015 ILX, there is an on-board procedure: shift to neutral, cycle the ignition with your registered keys, then bring the new proximity key inside the car within 40 seconds. Confirm your new fob has FCC ID KR5434760 before you start. If you only have one key or zero keys, you need professional equipment and that is where we come in. Start with the basics: make sure you put the CR2032 in positive side up and that you did not accidentally use a CR2025, which is the wrong size. If the battery is correct and your original key still does not work, the ID47 chip in your 2017 may need a full relearn through the OBD-II port. This is common with aftermarket fobs that have an FCC ID mismatch. Try your other key first to rule out a car-side issue.
