Flip Key Transition
Land Rover moved the Range Rover Evoque from a traditional fixed-blade key to a flip-style key with the blade folding into the fob body. This combined the remote and key into one unit and made the key more pocket-friendly.

A rectangular fob you keep in your pocket. The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque detects it automatically - walk up, grab the handle, push the button to start. No inserting a key. This is the most common type on newer Range Rover Evoque models.

Emergency Key Blade Stuck in Range Rover Evoque Fob
Fob dies every few months instead of a year-plus. Early L538 Evoque smart keys (2012-2018) are notorious for rapid drain because the proximity sensor polls constantly, even on your nightstand. Fresh CR2032; if it dies again in months, internals need attention.
Key Not Detected After Battery Swap
Low voltage is the usual culprit. When your Evoque's battery dies or gets disconnected, the ID47 transponder can lose sync with the immobilizer module. Common on high-mileage 2012-2021 models. We connect diagnostic tools and perform a full transponder relearn.
Range Rover Evoque Vulnerable to Relay Theft
We check the antenna wiring in your door module first. On 2019-2024 L551 Evoques, the smart key sometimes fails to detect through the handle even with a good battery. If wiring checks out, we test key signal. Fob or car: we figure out which first.
Can You Program a Range Rover Evoque Key Yourself?
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: Self-programming was disabled starting this model year. Previous years of the Range Rover Evoque allowed it, but Land Rover removed the capability as a security measure.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: No self-programming. Land Rover uses a proprietary encryption handshake that changes per vehicle. Even having the correct blank is not enough - the programming must go through authorized tools.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: Fob button programming can be done at home. Enter the vehicle, close all doors, insert key in ignition, cycle ON-OFF the specified number of times, then press LOCK on new fob. Transponder pairing still requires a locksmith.
