2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was up near Serra Cross Park on a Tuesday, parked on the hill where you can see most of Ventura laid out below the cross. The owner had called saying her 2015 Evoque wouldn't acknowledge the key at all. She'd already done a battery swap, which I appreciated.
When I got there, she handed me the fob and I could see it had been opened more than once. The battery contact on the positive side was bent slightly outward, not making full contact with the CR2032 even though the battery looked seated. Classic prying damage. Somebody had used a coin and gone at it wrong.
I straightened the contact, cleaned both sides, seated a fresh CR2032 I carry stock, and snapped the case closed properly. Walked the car. Proximity detection came back on both front doors, start button responded clean, and all five buttons tested out.
She didn't need a new fob. She didn't need programming. She needed the right small fix done correctly. The dealer had already told her to bring it in for a diagnostic appointment, which would have burned most of a day and pointed toward a fob replacement she didn't need.
Done in her driveway, done right, for way less than that route.
