1st Generation Base
Your 2011 to 2013 Juke uses Nissan's Intelligent Key, a 3-button smart key with push-button start and proximity entry. The key runs on a CR2025 battery and communicates with the NATS immobilizer system. There is a hidden mechanical blade tucked inside the fob for emergencies. One thing to watch: some early 2011 base models came with a traditional transponder key instead of the smart key, so we always verify by VIN before we roll out.
1st Generation Mid
Your 2014 or 2015 Juke keeps the same Intelligent Key platform with the FCC ID CWTWB1U808. The system supports up to four registered keys, and adding or replacing one still requires professional programming tools. Mid and higher trims all have push-button start, but base models may still use a standard transponder key with a turn ignition. Same CR2025 battery, same NATS security.
1st Generation Facelift
Your 2016 or 2017 Juke got a facelift but the key system stayed consistent. It is still the 3-button smart key with push-button start, NATS immobilizer, and a concealed emergency blade. Programming requires dealer-level diagnostic tools, which is exactly what we bring to your location. The CR2025 battery is the most common failure point on these, and we carry replacements on every call.
Pre-Smart Key Variant
Your 2011 Juke might be the exception. Some base-trim 2011 models shipped with a traditional transponder key and a turn-to-start ignition instead of the smart key system. It still uses the NATS immobilizer, but programming is done through on-board procedures rather than dealer-level diagnostics. If you are not sure which one you have, just tell us your VIN and we will sort it out before we head your way.
Which Key Does Your Juke Use?
This is the most common Juke key. It is a rectangular fob with no visible key blade. You keep it in your pocket and the car unlocks when you grab the door handle. Push the button to start.
Some early 2011 base models use a traditional key that you insert into the ignition to start the car. It has a transponder chip inside that talks to the NATS system, so a plain metal copy from the hardware store will not start your Juke.

Intelligent Key Battery Failure
We check the CR2025 first. Number one Juke call and half the time the only fix. If proximity unlock stopped but the mechanical blade still opens the door, the battery is almost certainly dead. We carry CR2025s in Oxnard or Simi Valley.
Key Programming Lockout
Think you can buy a Juke smart key online and pair it yourself? NATS doesn't work that way. Your Juke needs professional diagnostic tools to register a new key, max four total. An unregistered key won't start the car. We handle full registration on-site.
Proximity Sensor Interference
Walk up, grab the handle, nothing. Key in pocket. Usually interference between fob and door handle sensor: metal, electronics, or holding the key more than 2.5 feet from the handle. Hold the fob against the handle; if that works, carry it closer.
FCC ID Mismatch on Replacement Fobs
Cause is almost always wrong part number. Juke smart keys look like other Nissan fobs but require FCC ID CWTWB1U808 and part 285E3-1KM0D. A look-alike with the wrong FCC ID won't program. We stock confirmed-compatible blanks only.
Can You Program a Nissan Juke Key Yourself?
No DIY transponder or smart key programming for 2011 to 2014 Jukes. The NATS immobilizer requires professional diagnostic tools to register a new key to the vehicle. You can pair the remote buttons yourself if the transponder chip is already programmed, but the chip itself needs pro equipment.
You can pair the lock and unlock buttons on a remote yourself using a key-cycle procedure, but only if the transponder chip inside that key is already programmed and working. This does not help in an all-keys-lost situation. It only syncs the remote functions.
No self-programming option for 2015 to 2017 Juke smart keys. The system requires diagnostic equipment for both the transponder and the remote. This is a professional-only job.
