2013 Nissan Juke
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How long will the replacement key last?

A properly made replacement should last as long as your original. The programming doesn't degrade. What actually wears out on these Juke fobs over time is the battery contact or the fob shell, especially if it's been dropped. If the shell cracks, the electronics can usually be transplanted into a new housing for a lot less than replacing the whole key.

Q: What if the new key stops working after a few weeks?

Call me. Every key I make is covered. If push-button start stops responding, remote range drops off, or you get a key-not-detected warning after the fact, I come back and sort it out. One thing worth knowing about the Juke specifically: owners have reported intermittent key-not-detected warnings where lock and unlock still work fine but the start button stops recognizing the fob. That pattern points to the Intelligent Key antenna or receiver, not the fob itself.

Q: I lost both keys to my 2013 Juke. Can a new Intelligent Key still be made?

Yes, all-keys-lost on the Juke is a job we handle. It does require diagnostic equipment to access the Intelligent Key module and clear the old key registrations before new ones can be enrolled. There's no workaround for that step. Once the module is cleared, new fobs get registered and the emergency mechanical insert key gets cut. The old lost fobs are wiped in the process, so they can't be used to start the car if someone finds them.

Q: My Juke's door handle won't unlock when I touch it, but the fob buttons still work. Is the key the problem?

Probably not. If the lock and unlock buttons on the fob work and the start button still recognizes the key, the fob is doing its job. Passive door-handle unlock is a separate circuit. On the Juke, Intelligent Key owners have reported that the touch-sensor area on the door handle gets flaky, sometimes just from dirt or oxidation around the sensor, sometimes from a wiring issue at that door. Wipe the handle area clean and retest.

2013 Nissan Juke Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already working a call in Ventura on a Saturday night when another one came in. Group of friends finishing up at a Korean BBQ spot near North Ventura, and their 2013 Juke wouldn't start. Nobody could figure out why. The push-button just sat there ignoring them. They assumed the car was stuck until Monday and called me mostly just to ask if anything was even possible that late.

I was about fifteen minutes out and already had the right Intelligent Key fob stocked in the van. Didn't need to order anything.

When I got there, the fob had a completely dead CR2032. Not weak. Dead. I showed them the backup start trick first so they'd know it going forward, then replaced the battery and tested every function at the car. Lock, unlock, the push-button start, the whole thing. Took maybe twenty minutes once I was on site.

They drove home that night. The dealer option would have meant a tow, a Monday appointment, and a bill that made them wince just thinking about it. Having the right parts in the van at 10pm is what makes the difference.

Nissan Juke Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do you use OEM or aftermarket keys on Nissan Intelligent Key vehicles?▼

We use OEM-spec fobs that are verified to work with the Juke's Intelligent Key system. On this platform, cheap aftermarket fobs from online marketplaces are a real problem. Some clone housings have electronics that won't hold a pairing reliably, and Nissan dealers won't touch third-party fobs when brought in for programming. I only supply keys I'm willing to warranty. That means matching the correct fob, the correct battery, and confirming everything functions at the car before I leave.
