A traveling home inspector called me from a carport off Promenade Park in Ventura on a Monday morning. His 2011 Juke's only Intelligent Key had stopped communicating. Push button start showed "No Key Detected" on the dash. He'd already called the Nissan dealer and got the usual answer: Wednesday at the earliest, tow it in, and plan on leaving it.
He was self-employed. Two days without the car meant canceled inspections and clients he couldn't reschedule.
I got there that same Monday afternoon. Pulled up, popped his CWTWB1U808 open on the hood first. The CR2032 was corroded along one terminal, which explained the range dying over the last few weeks before it finally gave up. New battery got the remote functions back, but the dash still threw "No Key Detected" on the first push-to-start attempt. The fob had dropped out of registration with the BCM.
Connected my Smart Pro to the OBD-II port, ran the NATS5 Intelligent Key registration, and re-paired the fob. Then the full walk: lock, unlock, trunk release, push-button start from the driver's seat, push-button start with the fob held against the start button column (backup detection check). Everything clean.
He sat in the driver's seat and just held the start button like he was waiting for it to argue with him. It didn't.
Monday call, Monday fix. Same car, same parking spot, fraction of what the dealer quoted.
