Avenger Key Systems by Generation
First Generation (PJ Platform)
Remote-head key with a standard double-sided blade, three buttons, and a transponder chip in the head. Avenger relies on SKIM (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module) to verify the chip before the engine fires. CR2032 powers the remote functions. Pairing routes through the OBD-II port, parked in any San Diego driveway, no flatbed needed.
Identify Your Avenger Key
This is a traditional key that you insert into the ignition. The top half is your remote for locking and unlocking, and inside the housing is a transponder chip that talks to your car's immobilizer every time you turn the key.
Avenger Key Cost Breakdown
Price covers blank, cutting, transponder programming, and testing; no hidden fees.
EZ vs. the Dealer
Chrysler dealers in San Diego still hold Avenger programming as captive work. Marco runs the same SKIM PIN tooling parked next to your car, usually for roughly half.
Avenger Problems We Fix Most
SKIM Module Refuses the Chip
Easy guess on a no-start Avenger is the starter or battery; the SKIM quietly skates. The SKIM verifies your ID46 chip on every crank, and when it fails engine doesn't catch even though the key works in the door. Marco reprograms or swaps the SKIM on-site.
Fob Battery Burns Through in San Diego Heat
An Avenger CR2032 should last 2-3 years. Park in a Spring Valley driveway in August or a cold Carmel Valley morning and lifespan collapses. First symptom is shorter range, where you need five feet not fifty. Marco swaps CR2032 on-site in a minute.
SKIM Stops Recognizing the Chip
When an Avenger cranks but never catches, Marco first verifies the SKIM is reading the transponder. Sentry Key occasionally stops recognizing a chip that paired fine yesterday. OBD-II reset clears most cases. If the SKIM failed, Marco says so, no upsell.
WCM Programming Lockout (TSB SB-18-045-13)
Owners assume an aftermarket key is defective when it refuses to program. On 2008-2012 Avengers, the culprit is the Wireless Control Module software. Chrysler issued TSB SB-18-045-13. The WCM has to be reflashed first. Marco carries the gear in SD.
Can You Program It at Home?
No onboard self-program path on the Avenger. The car will not let you add a transponder key with just the car and an existing key, even on the 2008-2010 SKIM trims. The pairing wants an OBD-II programmer plus a working key minimum, and an all-keys-lost situation wants the PIN extracted from the SKIM. That is Marco's van, anywhere in San Diego.
How It Works

Call or Text
Dial (619) 876-1271. Tell Marco the exact year and whether any working keys still exist.

Marco Drives Out
Wherever the Avenger sits in San Diego County, the work happens there.

Cut, Program, Test, Out
Marco cuts the new key to the ignition pattern, pairs the transponder through OBD-II so SKIM accepts it, and tests every function (start, lock, unlock, trunk) while you watch.

Avenger Trivia
The second-generation Avenger that launched in 2008 was Chrysler's first JS-platform sedan shared with the Sebring, and it rode the SKIM transponder architecture from day one on every trim, no base-model exception. That decision is why your 2008 SE and a 2014 R/T both program through the same SKIM PIN process today.
