For the 2007 forward range, yes, and the workflow has three steps. One: pull the security PIN from the ECU through the OBD-II port. Two: have the programmer generate matching keys. Three: cut the blades and write the chips. XTOOL and Autel cover MDX, TLX, RDX, ILX, RLX, and TL across that window with no tow involved. Anything older than 2007, particularly the early TL, may need EEPROM access, and that path gets scoped on the phone before any van leaves the shop.

Two quick tests will tell you. One: does your dashboard have a Start button or an ignition cylinder you rotate? Button means smart key. Cylinder means transponder or older. Two: when was the car built? Pre-1996 means a plain brass blade with no chip. 1996 to 2008 means a transponder chip in the head, sometimes paired with a separate remote. The 2009 TL launched smart proximity keys at Acura, and the rest of the lineup followed across the next several years.

Random fob dropouts are a fingerprint of the fourth-generation TL. The car loses the signal at no predictable interval, and the workaround everyone invents on their own is the same: lock and unlock the doors, or step ten feet back and walk forward again. Sometimes a battery disconnect fault gets logged in the system that a locksmith or dealer can clear with a scan tool. If the dropout has gone from occasional to every drive, the fob hardware is approaching end-of-life or the pairing needs to be rewritten.

The dashboard fob slot on the 2009 to 2014 TL Technology Package and the TSX has a documented design flaw in the latch mechanism. Once the latch grips the fob, it sometimes refuses to release. Pulling it free without cracking the shell takes needle-nose pliers and a slow hand. If the small release tab inside the slot also seizes at the same time, the engine will not start until both pieces are freed. Almost always no. The programming on an Acura fob lives in non-volatile memory, so swapping the CR2032 inside leaves the transponder pairing and proximity registration untouched. Two edge cases break that rule. One: the fob sat dead for several months. Two: the contacts got shorted during the swap. Outside of those, the fob works the second the fresh battery seats. CR2032 is the standard cell across the lineup and any drugstore stocks it.

The keyless entry on some older Acuras, the 2009 TSX leading the list, uses a static RF code rather than a rolling one. That means a thief with the right capture device can record the unlock signal once and replay it later to open the doors. That weakness is separate from the Rolling Pwn rolling-code exploit that hit newer Hondas. Important context: the immobilizer runs on its own channel from the entry RF, so an unlocked door does not get the engine started without a valid paired key inside the cabin. A Faraday pouch around the fob eliminates the capture window completely.
