The latest I-Pace integrates the key system with Jaguar's connected vehicle platform. Phone-as-key capability, digital key sharing, and over-the-air fob updates are available on equipped models.
Integrated Fob Design
Jaguar consolidated all key functions into a single sleek fob for the I-Pace — remote lock/unlock, proximity start, trunk release, and remote start in one unit with no separate pieces.
All-Electronic Era
Physical key functions were fully eliminated on the I-Pace. All access and starting is electronic — proximity entry, push-button start, and phone-as-key backup.
First Smart Key Rollout
The I-Pace received smart key as an option on higher trims during this period. Base models continued with traditional keys while top trims got push-button start and proximity entry.
Which Key Does Your I-Pace Have?
A 3-button smart key for the Jaguar I-Pace with lock, unlock, and trunk/panic. No remote start on this configuration. May be found on base or mid-level trims.
A separate small remote for lock/unlock/trunk. Used alongside a physical key. The fob does not start the car — it only controls the door locks. Found on older I-Pace models that had keyless entry as an add-on.
A small metal blade hidden inside the smart key fob. Press the release button on the fob to slide it out. Used to manually unlock the driver's door when the fob battery is dead. Cannot start the engine on push-button-start models.

I-Pace Immobilizer Light Stays On
A solid or flashing immobilizer light (key icon) on your Jaguar I-Pace dashboard means the car does not recognize the key's transponder. This can happen with a new unprogrammed key, a failing key, or an immobilizer system fault. Call {PHONE} for on-site diagnosis.
I-Pace Doors Not Locking or Unlocking Remotely
If your Jaguar I-Pace key fob buttons are unresponsive but the car starts normally, the RF transmitter portion of the fob may have failed while the transponder chip still works. Try replacing the battery. If buttons still do not work, the fob may need replacement.
Key Not Detected After Battery Swap
On certain Jaguar I-Pace model years, replacing the fob battery can occasionally desync the key from the vehicle. If the car shows "Key Not Detected" after a battery change, try locking and unlocking the doors with the physical key blade, then attempt to start. If it persists, reprogramming is needed.
Can You Program a I-Pace Key Yourself?
Jaguar I-Pace: Adding a spare is possible with the ignition cycle method when you have a working key. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and costs nothing but the key blank.
Jaguar I-Pace: No on-board programming procedure exists. Jaguar locked this generation to dealer/locksmith tools only. Professional scan tool with up-to-date Jaguar coverage is required.
Jaguar I-Pace: All-keys-lost on this generation cannot be self-resolved. Even if you buy the correct blank, programming requires extracting the security PIN from the ECU with professional tools. Call (619) 876-1271.
