2021 Jaguar I-Pace
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2021 Jaguar I-Pace Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Over in Seven Oaks, the calls I get on Saturday nights are usually the ones that already went sideways somewhere else first.

This one came in late. A corporate attorney staying at a resort in Rancho Bernardo for a partner retreat had his 2021 Jaguar I-Pace sitting in the valet lane with zero keys. His only fob had gone missing somewhere between the spa and the parking lot. The valet had already told him Jaguar smart keys were dealer-only work. The dealer was closed until Monday.

He called me expecting me to confirm the same thing.

I drove out to the resort. An all-keys-lost job on the I-Pace is not an OBD flash and walk away. The Key Vault Module has to be read directly to pull the security data before anything can be written. I worked the KVM, extracted what I needed, computed the key data, and wrote it to a new fob. No soldering, no tearing the dash apart. Done in the valet lane.

When that car started, he was quiet for a second. Then he said he had already mentally budgeted an extra two nights at the hotel and called his assistant about rescheduling Monday morning meetings.

He did not need any of that. The dealer quote for the same job, if he had waited until Monday, would have been well over what he paid me, plus however many nights of lodging. He saved a good chunk, and he drove himself to dinner.
