G02 Facelift
The facelift moved to tighter encryption: ID46 chip paired with a CAS4 immobilizer module. Transponder Sync Failure

Not common knowledge: the BMW X4 smart key has a hidden mechanical blade inside it that unlocks both the driver door and the glovebox. Fob battery completely dead? You can still get into the car by prying off the small cap behind the driver door handle to reveal a hidden keyhole. Then hold the dead fob against the start button with the BMW logo facing up, press the brake, and the car starts normally.
