He'd been traveling for work, parked at the short-term garage near the Palomar Airport corridor, and when he came back the X4 didn't respond to anything. Fob buttons, nothing.

Held it against the door handle, nothing. He found the emergency blade inside the fob housing, got the door open manually, and tried holding the fob directly to the start button like he'd read somewhere. The dash lit up with a key-not-detected warning and wouldn't go further.

He mentioned the dealer quote on the way out, mostly just processing how the day had gone. I told him to tuck a spare CR2032 in the glovebox anyway, even though that wasn't the failure this time.
