DS (4th Gen): Remote Head Key with SKREEM
You turn this key in the ignition like any other key, but there is a Texas 4D (ID 46) transponder chip inside talking to the SKREEM module under your dash. No push button start on these. We program it through the OBD-II port in your driveway, and the whole job takes about 20 to 35 minutes.
DT (5th Gen): Smart Key with Push Button Start
Ram made a big jump here. Your key never leaves your pocket; it communicates with the RF Hub and Wireless Control Module using an ID4D (PCF7953) chip. Programming requires Chrysler server authentication, which means specialized J2534 equipment and a live connection to the manufacturer. This is the generation where cheap aftermarket tools fall short.
DT Refresh (5th Gen Facelift): Updated Smart Key
Same push button start and smart key concept as the 5th Gen, but with updated Uconnect 5 electronics and RF Hub security. Server authentication is still mandatory for programming. We verify the exact transponder specs on these newer models before every job to make sure we show up with the right hardware.

SKREEM Module Failure
Your 2013-2018 Ram cranks but will not start, security light on. The SKREEM module under the dash has failed from water or an internal fault. We diagnose on-site in Oxnard and lay out the repair path before you spend a dime.
RF Hub Sync Loss
Your 2019+ smart key suddenly stops after a battery disconnect or jump start. The fob lost pairing with the RF Hub module. We run the proxy alignment over J2534 at your location to re-sync everything.
WCM Water Intrusion
The WCM on 2019-2024 1500s sits under the dash where it catches water from leaks or clogged drains. Once corroded, keys stop being recognized and remote functions die. We check module condition first; a new key will not fix a corroded WCM.
Pin Code Mismatch
We pull the SKIM pin from your 2013-2018 Ram through OBD-II. When that pin does not match the SKREEM, programming fails. We pull the correct pin directly using SmartPro or AutoProPad so programming runs clean first attempt.
Can You Program a Ram 1500 Key Yourself?
You can program the remote buttons on a 2013-2018 key using an OBD-II diagnostic scanner like an Autel MK808, but you cannot program the transponder chip yourself. The chip programming requires professional equipment and the correct SKIM pin code from the SKREEM module.
