Village at the Park, Saturday morning. Guy's loading his boat when his only fob for the 2024 Ram 1500 takes a dive into the cooler. Full of ice water.
He fished it out quick, but the damage was done. Remote wouldn't respond, truck wouldn't sense the fob, and he's got a reservoir trip planned in two hours. The OHT-4882056 circuit board was toast.
I pulled up with a fresh fob and my Autel IM608. The 2024s need the secure gateway unlock through AutoAuth before you can touch anything. Once I'm past the SGW, it's into the RF hub module to add the new fob. The system wiped his drowned key from memory and accepted the new one.
While the truck cycled through the programming sequence, he's drying out the old fob with paper towels like it might come back to life. I tested all six buttons: lock, unlock, remote start, panic, tailgate release, and the aux button he'd never used. Each one worked on the first press.
He made his launch time at the lake. Saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, plus they couldn't have seen him until Monday anyway.
