2015 Ram 1500 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A traveling nurse flagged me down at the coin laundry off Cochran Street in the Big Sky neighborhood of Simi Valley. Her 2015 Ram 1500 had a replacement FOBIK from another locksmith that was giving her grief. It would start fine in the morning, but by evening the EVIC cluster would flash "No Fob Detected" and the truck would crank but cut fuel after two seconds. Classic immobilizer kill.
She thought it was electrical. It wasn't.
The previous tech had used a generic aftermarket FOBIK shell with a chip that passed initial Sentry Key pairing but couldn't hold up to the deeper rolling-code verification the RF hub runs after a few drive cycles. I pulled the chip data with my programmer and confirmed the transponder frequency was drifting off the 315 MHz spec that the GQ4-53T needs.
Swapped in an OEM-spec FOBIK, cut it to her 1500's lock data, and programmed through OBD in about 90 seconds. Then the part most people skip: full walk-around. Lock, unlock, remote start, panic, and trunk on all five buttons. Cycled the ignition three times to let the RF hub and the WIN module complete their handshake.
She sat in the driver's seat and just watched the dash, waiting for that message to come back. It didn't.
The whole job ran maybe 20 minutes in the parking lot. A fraction of what the dealer wanted, and no tow involved.
