2021 Ram 1500
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2021 Ram 1500 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a man standing in an empty church parking lot in the Village at the Park area of Camarillo. It was around nine at night, after evening service.

His only fob to his 2021 Ram 1500 had disappeared somewhere inside the building during the service. No spare. No registration in his hand. He was not quite sure what a VIN was, and he was already texting his wife about a ride home.

I kept him on the phone.

I told him to walk around to the driver's side and look through the windshield at the lower corner of the glass. He found the VIN. Then I had him open his insurance app on his phone, and it was right there too. That 17-character number told me everything I needed before I even left my truck. I knew the key type, I knew what blank to bring, and I had the right equipment staged before I was on the road.

He was quiet when I pulled in. A little relieved, a little skeptical that this was going to work in a parking lot.

I got into the truck, ran the all-keys-lost procedure through the OBD port, programmed a fresh six-button fob, and tested every function under the parking lot lights. The whole thing took under an hour. He drove home that night.

The dealer was closed. Even if they were not, he would have needed a tow, a wait for an appointment, and a bill that would have hurt. He paid a fraction of that, on-site, same night.

The VIN is the single most useful thing you can give me. Text it before I arrive and I will show up ready.
