Got a call from a building superintendent working out of an apartment maintenance office near Springville Park in Camarillo. He'd already been through it. One of those low-ball Google ad locksmiths came out for his 2018 Ram 1500, charged him a lot more than the ad said, and left the GQ4-53T Fobik half-working. Transponder side was fine, truck would start, but every remote button was dead. Lock, unlock, remote start, panic, tailgate release. Nothing.
He found me through Google Guaranteed. First thing I did was give him my BSIS license number, LCO 6792, right on the phone. He pulled up the California DCA lookup while we were still talking. I told him I'm also NASTF-registered, which gives me factory security PIN access that unlicensed guys can't pull.
Drove out, popped the hood on my Smart Pro with the SGM bypass cable, and ran the full WIN module programming sequence. The previous tech had only written the transponder side and skipped the RF remote registration. That is two separate routines on these trucks and you have to complete both. Reprogrammed the Fobik correctly, all five buttons came back, clean engine start, no DTC codes on the cluster.
He stood there clicking lock-unlock a few times like he was making sure it would last. I get that.
Whole thing took less time and a fraction of what the first guy charged him for a botched job.
