The first gen XT6 uses a 5-button smart key fob with FCC ID HYQ2ES and a CR2032 battery inside. It runs GM's modern keyless immobilizer with the Philips ID46 GM EXT chip, which communicates wirelessly with the car through proximity sensors. Programming requires server authentication, so professional tools are a must, but if you already have two working keys, you can add remote functions yourself at home.
1st Generation Facelift (C1XX Platform)
The 2022 and 2023 XT6 keeps the HYQ2ES 5-button smart fob and the Philips ID46 GM EXT chip identical to the launch year. Refreshed grille and badging out front, zero change on the immobilizer side. Programming still wants GM SPS server authentication, which the van rolls to your La Jolla curb with already loaded.
1st Generation Update (C1XX Platform)
The 2024 and 2025 XT6 still uses the HYQ2ES smart fob and the same Philips ID46 GM EXT chip family. GM kept the system stable across the entire XT6 production run. Programming a 2025 in Carmel Valley runs structurally identical to a 2020 in Chula Vista. CR2032 battery, not rechargeable, same as every year before.

Smart Key Fob Battery Drain
First diagnostic move: where do you keep your fob at night? On a table near the car or in a garage bowl, proximity sensors stay active and drain the CR2032 in weeks. Move at least 10 feet from the vehicle. Fixes most rapid drain on 2020-2025 XT6.
Programming Refusal at Dealers

Transponder Sync Failures
