2024 Cadillac XT6
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2024 Cadillac XT6 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near the Live Oak Park Area in Fallbrook, I got a call from a guy who had just lost both fobs for his 2024 XT6. Not misplaced. Gone. He'd been out of town, thought they were in his bag, and came home to a three-row SUV sitting in his driveway that wouldn't acknowledge him at all. No working key in the house. No spare anywhere.

He'd already called the dealer. They told him to tow it in and plan on leaving it for at least a day, possibly two, because their service schedule was backed up. He wasn't thrilled about that.

I pulled up to the driveway with everything I needed already loaded. All-keys-lost on a current Cadillac smart key system is not a quick button sequence. The vehicle's security module needs to have its existing key data cleared before it will accept anything new, and that process involves direct module communication, not just plugging into the OBD port and clicking through a menu. I backed up the module data first, ran the all-keys-lost sequence, and registered a fresh fob to the vehicle. The whole job took place in his driveway while he watched from the porch.

When the XT6 started up and the dash cleared, he just stood there for a second. Said he'd been mentally preparing for a two-day rental car situation. The dealer comparison came up on its own. He'd gotten a number from them already and what I charged was a fraction of what they'd quoted, without the tow and without leaving the car somewhere overnight.

All-keys-lost on a current Cadillac is a tool-dependent job, not a dealer-exclusive one. The right equipment and current software make it a driveway call.
