IMA Hybrid Battery Effects on 12V
When the IMA hybrid pack weakens, it pulls more current through the 12V than expected. That drain can trigger immobilizer trust breaks even though the key is fine. We diagnose the hybrid-side load on the truck and pair-test the ID46 chip first.
Can You Program a CR-Z Key Yourself?
Sort of. Two-key on-board procedure adds a third if you have two existing working keys. New key still needs to be cut and ID46-programmed first by a locksmith. The dealer charges $400+ for the full job. We do it on-site for $200-$300.

The CR-Z was Honda's 2011 attempt to bring the spirit of the CRX back, this time as an IMA hybrid sport coupe with a 6-speed manual option that hybrid critics had been begging for. Sales never matched expectations and Honda quietly pulled the plug after 2016.
