First-generation Intrepid (1993-1997) is mechanical only. No transponder, no immobilizer, no programming. Cut the blank to the right code and the car starts. Marco wraps these in under 10 minutes from any driveway.
Second Generation (LH)
Second-generation Intrepid (1998-2004) ships SKIM with the Texas Crypto 4D (4D64) transponder. Standard double-sided blade with a 3-button remote head, CR2032 inside, PIN-extracted OBD-II pairing. Marco runs the cut and the pair from one visit.
Third Generation (LH)
The 2004 model wrap closed out Intrepid production with the same Texas Crypto 4D (4D64) architecture. Marco still stocks the right SKIM blanks for these cars even though most dealers stopped paying attention years ago.

SKIM Loses the 4D64 Handshake
On a 1998-2004 Intrepid that cranks but refuses to catch, the SKIM is the culprit, not the fuel system or starter. The module verifies Texas Crypto 4D (4D64) chip on every ignition event, and sync loss kills the run. Marco re-pairs in any San Diego driveway.
Door Lock Cylinders Wear Out
Intrepid door lock cylinders see less use than the ignition but eventually wear past readable, on coastal cars from Coronado, Oceanside, or Imperial Beach where salt air accelerates failure. Marco re-pins or replaces door cylinders on-site and rekeys.
Worn Ignition Cylinder
Intrepid ignition cylinders eventually wear past the point where even a fresh-cut blade reads reliably. Hard turn or fires only after wiggling. Marco re-keys or swaps the cylinder on-site, parked next to the car wherever it sits across San Diego.
Can You Program an Intrepid Key at Home?
Two working keys in hand on a 1998-2004 Intrepid? Ignition cycling can add a third. First key ON for 3 seconds, OFF and pull. Within 15 seconds, second key ON, wait for the chime. Third key within 50 seconds.
Holding one working remote? Re-pair just the remote-side buttons via a LOCK / UNLOCK / PANIC sequence with the key in RUN. Covers lock, unlock, panic, trunk only. Transponder side untouched.
