1999 Dodge Intrepid Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked off Grove Avenue in Downtown Lemon Grove when she called. She had a 1999 Dodge Intrepid sitting in a lot near the taqueria, and she had one working key left. The Intrepid that year takes a transponder key. The chip inside the key head has to be recognized by the immobilizer before the car will run. I pulled out my programmer, read what I needed from the OBD port, cut a replacement blade to match her existing key, and programmed the transponder chip in the new key to her vehicle. Tested it cold. Started right up. Let it sit, tested again. Same result.
The whole thing happened in the parking lot while she waited. She got her spare, the car never moved, and the dealer route she had been quoted was not even in the same conversation price-wise.
