Your 2013-2018 3500 runs a remote-head key with the Texas 4D (ID46) transponder chip. You turn a physical blade in the ignition, but the truck will not crank unless the chip handshakes with the SKREEM immobilizer first. 5th Generation (2019-2021, D2 HD Platform)
Huge architecture jump on the 5th Gen 3500. Your 2019-2021 runs a proximity smart key with the ID47 chip and push-button start. The immobilizer switched to the RF Hub system, and programming now demands Chrysler/Stellantis server authentication on top of OBD-II access. There is a high-security laser-cut emergency blade tucked inside the fob shell for the day the CR2032 dies.
5th Generation Facelift (2022-2024)
Your 2022-2024 3500 carries the same ID47 smart-key + RF Hub architecture as the 2019-2021, but the Secure Gateway Module clamped down hard. Programming still runs through OBD-II with live server auth, and the hidden emergency blade is still there. The gateway bypass adds about 15 minutes to programming, but Marco handles it on-site without a tow to Kearny Mesa.

CR2032 Fob Battery Drain on DT Smart Keys
First check on any 2019-2024 3500 no-unlock: the CR2032 inside the fob. Heavy remote-start and passive-entry polling drain these fast on dually 3500s near aftermarket LED bed lighting on similar RF. Swapping every couple months? Fob reprog or LED ground loop. Marco diagnoses on-site.
Transponder Sync Loss After a Jump
