Worn Fobik keys on Ram trucks are one of the calls where the dealer quote and the actual fix are completely different jobs. The 2009 through 2018 Ram Fobik is a plastic pod that plugs into the WIN module and twists to start. After years of daily use, the plastic cracks, the rubber buttons tear, and the blade gets loose. The dealer wants to sell a brand new Fobik at $442. Most of the time the chip and circuit board inside are fine.
A fleet manager at the oil change shop near Carmel Mountain Ranch had three work trucks with beat-up Fobiks. One 2024 Ram 3500 had a Fobik held together with electrical tape. He called the dealer and the number made him look for alternatives.
