How the xD Key System Works
Early NCP61 - San Diego
Every 2008-2014 xD ships with a TOY44 high-security blade and a Toyota 4D-67 (ID67) transponder chip in the head. No buttons on the base trim. The immobilizer is a standard Toyota system, programmable through OBD with the Autel. Toyota kept the chip generation consistent across the full seven-year run.
Mid-Cycle Refresh - San Diego
Mid-run xDs added the MOZB52TH 3-button remote head key as an upgrade, still on the TOY44 blade with the same Toyota 4D-67 chip. CR2016 battery in the head, lock/unlock/panic buttons. Programming requires OBD through the Autel, which Marco handles curbside in San Diego.
Late Production - San Diego
Late-run xDs (2013-2014) kept the TOY44 blade and the Toyota 4D-67 chip, but added Toyota TIS server PIN authentication for all-keys-lost programming. Marco has TIS access and runs the full procedure curbside in San Diego.
Which xD Key Do You Have?
Plain TOY44 high-security blade with the Toyota 4D-67 (ID67) chip molded into the plastic head. No remote buttons on base trims. Twist in the ignition, chip authenticates, engine fires.
MOZB52TH 3-button remote head key with lock/unlock/panic buttons in the head, CR2016 battery, Toyota 4D-67 (ID67) chip inside. One unit handles starting and remote functions on mid and late-run xDs.
Late-run TOY44 with Toyota 4D-67 chip plus TIS server PIN authentication for all-keys-lost programming. Same blade, same chip generation, slightly different immobilizer firmware than the early run.
xD Key Pricing in San Diego County
Every price includes the key blank, cutting, transponder programming, and testing; no hidden fees. Done on-site anywhere in San Diego County.
EZ Car Keyz vs San Diego Toyota Dealers
Mossy Toyota and Toyota of El Cajon both have the xD in their database, but the parts shelves don't, and the service writers will quote a week-plus wait on the blank plus a tow if all keys are lost. Marco carries every part on the van right now in San Diego, cuts the TOY44 to your Toyota code, pairs the 4D-67 chip through OBD with the Autel, half the dealer cost, no tow, same day.
Common xD Key Problems in San Diego
All Keys Lost on a 2008-2014 xD
Lost both keys to the xD in a Mira Mesa lot, or bought used with only one? A fresh TOY44 with Toyota 4D-67 (ID67) chip needs a PIN from Toyota's TIS server, where most San Diego chain locksmiths quote a tow. Marco runs all-keys-lost curbside in under 45.
Remote Fob Battery Drain - San Diego
Aftermarket switchblade kits on Amazon for $40 wreck the chip antenna during the swap 9/10. The key won't authenticate to the immobilizer no matter the blade cut. Marco fixes botched xD conversions in San Diego: fresh blank, chip, OBD-II pair.
Immobilizer ECU Sync Loss - San Diego
Dead 12V or a sloppy jump knocks the xD's Toyota immobilizer out of sync with a good key, engine cranks but won't fire. Marco plugs the Autel into OBD-II in San Diego and runs the Toyota relearn to resync key and ECU. About 15 minutes.
Worn Ignition Cylinder - San Diego
The MOZB52TH remote head shell cracks at the seam on a heavy keyring, common in San Diego with so much hanging off the key. Cracked shell shifts the chip antenna and authentication drops. Marco swaps the shell or cuts and pairs a fresh key on-site.
Can You Self-Program an xD Key in San Diego?
No. Every xD chip programming step requires OBD with professional equipment like the Autel IM608. There is no DIY key-dance procedure for the Toyota 4D-67 chip on the xD. Marco runs it curbside in San Diego.
Some MOZB52TH remote button functions can be re-paired through a door-cycle dance on a working key, but the chip itself still requires Marco's OBD tools. Call (619) 876-1271 and the whole job runs curbside in San Diego.
No. Late-run 2013-2014 xDs require Toyota TIS server PIN authentication for all-keys-lost on top of OBD programming. Marco has TIS access and runs the full procedure curbside in San Diego.

Did You Know?
The Scion xD sits on Toyota's NCP61 platform, shared with the JDM Toyota ist (the same chassis that underpinned the original xA) and the European Toyota Urban Cruiser. Three different markets, three different badges, one Toyota immobilizer underneath. Marco can cross-reference programming routines between any of these cars using the same Autel profile. The key blade is TOY44 with a Toyota 4D-67 (ID67) chip, and yes, a JDM ist key cut to xD specs would actually start your car in Carmel Mountain Ranch.
