Do you need to tow your 2011 Scion XD to the dealer? For most Scion models, probably not. I handle all-keys-lost right at the car. Scion uses Toyota's immobilizer, and most years are well covered by aftermarket tools.
A customer at home in Poway had his only key stop working at 1am. His XD was on the street with no key the car would recognize. He assumed a tow truck in the morning was his only option. I told him to stay put.
I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port and ran the Toyota/Scion AKL procedure. His Remote Head Key, FCC ID MOZB41TG, was a 3-button remote head. I programmed it on his street at 1:30am. He seemed pretty surprised it could all be done right there.
His total was about $185. Dealer would have been $395 plus a tow and a wait until business hours. There are a few edge-case Scion and Toyota successor models where AKL requires pulling the ECU and doing EEPROM bench work. Those take longer and cost more, and I'll tell you that upfront instead of wasting your time. But for the majority of Scion models on the road, I do all-keys-lost on-site regularly.
