Here's the thing most people don't know: on these Toyota-based systems, the remote side can sometimes lose its pairing after power is interrupted, even from a dead battery. If you replace the CR2016 and the buttons still don't work but the key still starts the car, that's what happened. The transponder is fine because it draws power differently. The RF transmitter lost its link. That's a quick relearn on my end, not a full replacement job. Don't buy a whole new key before you call.
