Transponder Key Duplicate

Your key has a chip that talks to the engine every time you start the car. A hardware store can copy the blade, but only we can clone the chip.

Every transponder key has a small RFID chip in the plastic head. When you turn the ignition, the car sends a challenge signal to the chip, and the chip responds with a cryptographic code. Wrong code, dead starter. Duplicating a transponder key means cutting the blade to factory spec and cloning or programming the chip with professional tools.

Smart Key / Fob Duplicate

Smart key duplication reads the vehicle's immobilizer through the OBD-II port, generates a new cryptographic token, and writes it to a blank proximity fob. We use the Autel IM608 and VVDI Key Tool Plus for virtually every proximity protocol: Toyota DST-AES, Honda HITAG3, Hyundai 128-bit AES, Ford PATS.

Flip keys combine a folding blade, a transponder chip, and usually a remote lock/unlock module in a single spring-loaded housing. Duplicating one means sourcing the correct shell, cutting the blade on a machine that handles dimple or laser-track profiles, cloning or adding the transponder chip, and pairing the remote frequency.

Laser-Cut Key Duplicate

Laser-cut keys have a serpentine groove milled into the flat side of the blade rather than traditional sawtooth edge cuts. Why should I get a spare key instead of waiting until I need a replacement?

Cost. A spare made from a working key costs roughly half of what an emergency replacement costs when every key is gone. Emergency replacement requires lock decoding, immobilizer PIN extraction, and building a key from scratch with no reference. Duplication clones what you already have. Less labor, less time, less equipment, lower price.

Can you make a spare without going to the dealer?

Yes. We use the same OEM-spec blanks and diagnostic platforms the dealer uses. The duplicate is functionally identical. The difference is we come to you, finish in one visit, and don't charge dealership overhead rates.

Will making a spare mess up my existing keys?

On most vehicles, no. Adding a key to the system keeps existing keys active. Some older models wipe the key memory during programming, so we always ask you to bring every working key. We program them all in the same session so nothing gets erased by accident.

How many keys can my car hold in its system?

Most vehicles support up to eight transponder keys or fobs. Some older models cap at four. We check your vehicle's capacity before we start so you know how many slots are open.

Is a duplicate key just as reliable as the original?

Yes. The blade is cut to the same factory specs and the chip is programmed with the same protocol. If we use an aftermarket key shell, it might look slightly different cosmetically, but the blade cut, chip communication, and fob functions are identical to the original.

Can you duplicate a key that's already worn down?

We can, but we don't trace worn keys. Instead we pull the original bitting code from the VIN or decode the lock and cut to factory spec. That gives you a blade that matches what the key was supposed to be, not the shape it's worn into over years of use. The duplicate often works smoother than the original for this reason.

How long does spare key duplication take?

Metal keys take about 15 minutes. Transponder and flip keys run 25 to 35 minutes with programming. Smart fobs and laser-cut keys run 30 to 45 minutes. We give you the time window with your quote.

Do I need the car present to get a spare made?

For metal keys with no chip, we only need the existing key to cut from. For any key with a transponder chip or proximity fob, yes, the car has to be present. The chip has to be programmed to the vehicle's immobilizer through the OBD-II port, and that requires physical access to the car.
